Cooking Class - “The Cataplana*”

This activity takes place in our traditional farmhouse in Tavira, Monte do Álamo, where participants will learn how to prepare a 3 course menu with a Starter, a traditional fish & seafood cataplana (other options available: Free range Chicken; Octopus & Sweet potato and Vegetarian) and dessert.

Next, participants are invited to share a relaxed meal having the opportunity to taste the prepared dishes in a beautiful setting.

The recipes used in this class are part of the rich and healthy Mediterranean diet, characteristic from the south of Portugal: Alentejo and Algarve.

*The Cataplana began to be produced many decades ago in the Algarve. Using a hermetic steam cooking process, this delicious utensil ensures full and excellent flavors, preventing the loss of  aromas of food.

Participants will learn the recipes step by step, and participate in all parts of the process, from the selection of the ingredients in the local market and the farm, to the final product and posterior tasting.

Using local products, with excellent quality and the presentation of the meal are also very important aspects, as we will explain during the class.
